I received Patrick Corrigan’s new book Power + Colour yesterday. I photographed Patrick in 2008 for the Art Gallery of NSW portrait prize and was glad to see my photo used in his new book which features his collection of Aboriginal art. Pat is a great is philanthropist and collector of Australian art…(hence the red dots in my photo). His donations to art galleries around Australia is legendary and makes him a one of those people whose values you wish we had more of in society… I was privileged to visit both his homes in Sydney and the Gold Coast. I was impressed that in his Sydney apartment the kitchen alone had more artwork hanging in it than most Elizabeth Bay mansions and that in his Gold Coast home the ‘inside’ was for Australian artists while the offshore artists, such as Warhol, were relegated to hang in the garage. That’s healthy patriotism….
Jeremy Shot this portrait of Pat for an exhibtion at the AGNSW where it was runner up in the inaugural portrait prize. It has since been used in various books featuring Pat.
